The state of Tennessee only requires that you carry the following limits in order to meet their requirements for
having insurance:
$25,000 Bodily injury limit where one person is involved
$50,000 Bodily injury limit where more than one person involved
$10,000 Property damage done to someone else
This simply is not enough coverage to protect you. Our agency recommends that you inquire about carrying
much higher limits than this. You pay for your base limits and in most cases the cost to increase your limits
cost very little. Try buying a new car for $10,000 and you will see what we are talking about. On the bodily
injury side you simply do not know the amount you could be held liable for. Ask your agent to figure the next
available limits for you which in most cases is 50,000/100,000 25,0000. At the very least increase your
property damage limit to $25,000. A lot of insureds even add an umbrella plan to the basic coverages that
extends their coverage to $1,000,000. The cost of an umbrella is very small and protects your auto and
home. With an umbrella you are required to carry certain limits of liability on your policies in order to qualify for
the policy then it picks up after those limits.
It is your responsibility to determine the amount of insurance you feel is correct to carry for yourself. Your
agent can provide cost figures on coverage amounts but the final decision on what amount of coverage you
end up with is determined by you.

You should see your actual policy for complete details of coverage.
